Youth Endowment Fund of East Tennessee Foundation Announces $251,300 in Grant Awards to Combat the Ongoing Impacts of Adverse Child Experiences (ACEs)

East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) announces grant recipients from our Youth Endowment Fund. Twenty-seven (27) grants totaling $251,300 were awarded to nonprofit organizations located in 14 counties whose programs are helping prevent or mitigate Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), stressful or traumatic events in a child’s life. Examples of ACEs include such traumatic events as emotional or physical abuse and neglect, living in a household with addictive behaviors, and witnessing or experiencing domestic violence.

The Youth Endowment Fund was established at ETF in 1987 to serve as a perpetual source of funds to address challenges affecting young people in East Tennessee. Since 1987, $4.2 million has funded innovative programs for the region’s at-risk youth.

Grants from the Youth Endowment Fund have been awarded for two years to the following organizations: Beta Theta Boule’ Foundation; Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County; Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kingsport; Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains; CASA of Northeast Tennessee; Centro Hispano de East Tennessee; Counseling and Consultation Services, Inc.; Dogwood Elementary School; Downtown Newport Artscapes; East Tennessee Children’s Hospital; Florence Crittenton Agency; Freedom Village of Hope; Girl Talk, Inc., Girls Inc. of Tennessee Valley; Hamblen County Foundation for Educational Excellence and Achievement; International Storytelling Center; Karate Five Association, Inc.; Lakeway CASA, Inc.; Little Tennessee Valley Educational Cooperative; Mane Support; Mental Health Association of East Tennessee; Monroe County Boxing Club; Morgan County Career & Technical Center; Ridin’ High, Inc.; Rural Resources; Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding; and Small Miracles Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Inc.
